هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى الكشف عن قدرة مستوى الطموح بالتنبؤ بالضغوط النفسية لدى أسر طلبة الثانوية العامة في مدينة إربد بالأردن. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، طُوِّر مقياسان وعُدِّلا لقياس كل من مستوى الطموح والضغط النفسي. وقد شارك في الدراسة 460 أسرة، أماً وأباً لطلبة الصف الثاني الثانوي بجميع فروعه في مدينة إربد، موزعين على سبع مدارس للذكور وسبع مدارس للإناث، اختيروا بالطريقة العشوائية العنقودية. وقد أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن: 1) مستوى طموح أسر طلبة الثانوية العامة جاء بدرجة مرتفعة على الأداة ككل، وعلى أبعادها. 2) وجاء الضغط النفسي بمستوى متوسط على الأداة ككل، وعلى أبعادها، باستثناء البعد الجسمي، فقد جاء بمستوى ضغط نفسي منخفض. 3) في حين أظهرت التحليلات أن متغيرات، مستوى دخل الأسرة، والجنس، والمستوى التعليمي للوالدين. جاءت متنبئة بدلالة إحصائية. وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من التوصيات. This study is about the ability of the ambition level in predicting psychological stress in the light of some variables among high school students’ families in Irbid, Jordan. Two measures are developed to achieve this aim, ambition level and psychological stress. A random cluster sample of 460 high school students’ families at Irbid participated in the research and students are distributed on seven male schools and seven female schools. The results revealed a high ambition level among the families on the instrument as a whole and for each dimension. The psychological stress level is intermediate on the instrument as a whole and on the dimensions except for the physical dimension which recorded a low level. The analysis showed that socioeconomic level, gender and parental educational level predicted significantly of psychological stress. The research concluded with some recommendations for the educational organization, supervisors and principals. (Published Abstract)
