تناولت الدراسة علم اللغة التطبيقي ومجالاته واهتماماته، وأصل اللغات. تمثلت مشكلة الدراسة في الإجابة عن التساؤلات التالية: هل عالج علم اللغة التطبيقي قضية التداخل اللغوي؟ هل أصل اللغات واحد أم متعدد؟ ما العلاقة بين علم اللغة التطبيقي وعلم اللغة العام؟ نبعت أهمية الدراسة من دور علم اللغة التطبيقي في تعلّم اللغات وتعليمها؛ ولاسيما فيما يتعلق بتنمية المهارات اللغوية الأساسية، هدفت الدراسة إلى وصف علم اللغة التطبيقي واهتماماته ومجالاته وصفاً دقيقاً. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وتوصلت إلى عدد من النتائج، من أهمها: إن علم اللغة التطبيقي متشعب وأصبح ضرورة في هذا العصر. إنّ علم اللغة التطبيقي نشأ عند العرب والمسلمين وعلى رأسهم الجاحظ، وأن مجالات علم اللغة التطبيقي تلبي معظم احتياجات المتعلم اللغوية، وأن له دوراً فعالاً في تعليم اللغات الثانية، وأن المفردة اللغوية المجردة لا تؤدي المعنى المطلوب إلا من خلال السياق الاصطلاحي. واستخدام اللغة الفصحى في التدريس يزيد قابلية الدارس ونجاح العملية التعليمية. وخرجت الدراسة بعدد من التوصيات أهمها: إن هذا مقترح يمكن أن يكون إحدى اللبنات الأساسية في علم اللغة التطبيقي. ضرورة الاهتمام بالذخيرة اللغوية للمتعلم عند وضع أي برنامج لتعليم اللغات. المهارات اللغوية لا تفصل عن بعضها في تعليم اللغات. إن التطور والتقدم التكنولوجي يجب الاستفادة منه وتطويعه لصالح العملية التعليمية وليس رفضه كلياً. الاهتمام بالمعاجم السياقية والتشجيع على قراءتها وإبراز دورها. والاستفادة من النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة وتطويرها مستقبلاً. The study dealt with Applied Linguistics and the fields and interests, and the origin of languages. The study represented a problem in answering the following questions: Is Applied Linguistics addressed the issue of linguistic overlap? It is the origin of all languages and one or multi? What is the relationship between Applied Linguistics and General Linguistics?, Stemmed importance of the study of the role of Applied Linguistics in language learning and teaching; particularly with regard to the development of basic language skills, study aimed to describe Applied Linguistics and interests and the fields and accurate description. The study followed the descriptive analytical method. The study found a number of the results of the most important of the Applied Linguistics forked and has become a necessity in this day and age, and Applied Linguistics grew up among the Arabs and Muslims, led by bigeye, and that the areas of Applied Linguistics meet most of the needs of the language learner, and that it has an active role in the teaching of mother tongues and second, that the individual abstract language does not lead the desired effect only through idiomatic context. And the use of classical language teaching increase more the student ability and success of the educational process. The study has come out with a number of recommendations including that this proposal could be one of the basic building blocks in Applied Linguistics, the need for attention linguistic ammunition for the learner when developing a program to teach the language, and that language skills are not separated from each other in language teaching, and development and technological progress should take advantage of it customized for the benefit of the educational process is not totally rejected, contextual dictionaries attention and encouragement to read it and to highlight their role.
