This study aims to investigate the performance of the 16th House of Parliament, whether legislative or monitoring, from the viewpoint of academicians working at the Political Science Departments in different universities in Jordan. To achieve this aim, the study has employed the descriptive approach, prepared a questionnaire and examined its psychometric traits in terms of validity and consistency. The questionnaire included the two main aspects: the legislative aspect and the monitoring aspect, with the former including the main points and the latter 13. The sample of the study is made up of seventy six academicians Seventy five questionnaires were filled and returned; one questionnaire, however, was excluded. Results have shown that the performance of the MPs of the t6th House of Parliament did not meet the expectations and ambitions of the public. The academic rank, however, did not impact the results. The study recommends the following: 1) Parliamentary performance, whether legislative or monitoring, should be upheld by cadres of experts in politics, economics, and law to offer support and consultation to MPs as is practiced in Western parliaments. 2) Building real partnership between MPs, academicians and men of law through holding workshops and training courses to enable MPs acquire competency and efficiency.
