This study aimed to find out the availability of next generation science standards in the content of the science textbooks of the first grade of Intermediate School in Saudi Arabia. The study used the descriptive analytical method, the tool was a content analysis card which built on a list of the NGSS, and the sample was consisted of 4 books of the first grade of intermediate school. the study ended up with the following Results: the average percentage of NGSS availability is 33.1% which is low rate variability, distributed in varying proportions to 3 basic standards as following:-disciplinary core idea 57% ,science and engineering practices 24.3%,crosscutting concepts 18% ,the recommendations assured the importance of review the content of the target books in the light of NGSS-implying more science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts with the focus on the depth of the disciplinary core idea.
