The research aims to explain the role of intermediate education in the prevention of religious extremism phenomenon. The researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach to explain the mediocrity of Islamic education in its various aspects, and then analyze the causes that lead to extremism, which are subjective reasons related to the extremist himself in his cognitive, emotional, behavioral side, in addition to objective reasons related to the political, social and economic status and the global conspiracy. Finally, the researcher suggested the role of community institutions in the education on the mediocrity through the society role, political authority, the role of youth Muslims and the role of education. The research found many findings, including that: Islam established a straight approach to the prevention of extremism, based on thought reforming first and then fix behavior. Also that extremism has many and varied subjective and objective reasons, and the wrong education is the main reason for extremism. (Published Abstract)
