The aim of the current research is to identify the preventive awareness among students of the Faculty of Science at the University of Jeddah. The descriptive survey approach which examines the fact to find out the strengths and weaknesses through data collection, has been applied. To achieve this, a study tool represented in preventive awareness scale has been made with five axes and has been applied to a study sample which represented the entire original society for the study which is 100 female students at the Faculty of Science and 70 students from the Department of Biology and 30 students from the Department of Mathematics. During the first semester of the academic year 1437-1438h, and to answer questions of the study data were collected and discharged. The researcher used some statistical methods to interpret the results of frequencies and percentages -almost mean and standard deviation - test T-test- Pearson correlation coefficient - Spearman equation. The study found that the level of preventive awareness among a sample of students study is relatively high, while the level of preventive awareness on security and safety requirements and the awareness of natural disasters is relatively low among students of the department of Biology. The level of preventive awareness on health awareness and awareness of natural disasters is relatively low among students of the department of Mathematics. This shows the importance of developing the of preventive awareness dimensions towards preventive issues and concepts among the students of the study sample. The study also resulted in a lack of statistically significant differences (at the level of 0.005) in the average study sample responses about the reality of preventive awareness among students of the Faculty of Science. Depending on the results, some proposals and recommendations that may contribute to the development of that awareness were presented.(Published Abstract)
