The study examines the standards of teaching competency of math teachers in Public schools at Sabya Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in accordance with the Standards of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). The sample of the study included 60 teachers, selected randomly from different schools in the area. To investigate the standards of teaching competency among math teachers, the researchers developed a questionnaire of 25 items. Then, the questionnaire was tested and validated. The study resulted in the following conclusions: first, the level of teaching competency was high in all the areas that the study covered. Second, there was no statistical differences in all areas of the research, (0.05). The differences in the teachers' levels of competency are due to the teachers' academic degrees, years of experience, and level of teaching. Finally, the study provides some pedagogical recommendations, such as the need for some training courses for math teachers in new educational strategies and teaching styles, as well as the need for more research on teachers' teaching styles in the classroom.(Published Abstract)
