This research study aims at investigating the effectiveness of the directed method in developing the scientific thinking skills in the first level secondary school female students and their learning process in one of the girls' secondary schools in the greater municipality – the republic of Yemen. In order to achieve the goals of this study, the researcher developed the contents of one unit in the physics curriculum. The unit that was developed was “the electric current" from the physics text book of the same year, and in accordance with the directed investigation method. Tests for developing the thinking skills were developed. After validity and reliability of tests were ensured the pre and post tests were applied on a sample of 87 female students, who were divided into two groups, a control group and an experimental group. After making sure of the equality through the two tests, that were conducted before and after in the thinking and learning skills, the statistical treatment was done through then averages and the standard derivations, the TTEST and liber son’s. The researcher used the half partial method to make sure of the reliability of the two tests, where it was 0.825 for the learning test, and 0.80 for the scientific thinking skills. The results obtained were: 1) the presence of functional statistical differences between the average scientific thinking skills between the experimental and control groups in the pre-test. 2) The presence of functional statistical differences between the averages of the two groups (the experimental/control group) in the post-test of the learning process in favor of the experimental group. 3) The presence of functional statistical differences between the scores in the scientific thinking skills and the school of the knowledge learning process in favor of the excremental in the post-test.
