تهدف هذه الدراسة الكيفية إلى استكشاف معتقدات المدرسين حول تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية في المدارس المتوسطة بمدينة تمنراست، واستخدمت المقابلة كوسيلة لجمع المعلومات المطلوبة. فدلت النتائج على أن بعض معتقدات المدرسين خاطئة وبعضها صحيح حول تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية؛ كالهدف من تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية في المرحلة المتوسطة، والكتاب المدرسي، وتقنيات المقاربة بالكفاءات، والمتعلم. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن تباعد معتقدات المدرسين عما هو مفترض أن يكون سببه إهمالهم كمنفذين للإصلاحات، فلكي يفعل تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية لا بد من اعتبار معتقداتهم تغيير الممارسات التدريسية الفعلية؛ كما كشفت الدراسة عن مصادر المعتقدات التدريسية كخبراتهم التعلمية كطلاب، ومرحلة التكوين كمدرسين. This qualitative study aims to explore the English teachers’ beliefs about teaching their subject matter at middle school stage in Tamanrasset. The interviews were used to collect the data. It was found that some teachers’ beliefs about teaching English were wrong, while others were right, such as the objective of teaching English in middle schools, syllabus, competency- based approach techniques, the learners. The study interpreted the divergence of those beliefs from what it shoud be by the neglecting the teachers as practictioners of the reform, in orther to activate English teaching In Algeria, it is urgent to base too on those beliefs to make change in real teaching practices; the study also mentioned to the resources of teachers’ beliefs such as their experience as students, and the education stage.
