The aim of this study according to Vikotesky's societal accumulation theory has focused on the impact of teaching intermediate school students acquisition of mathematical concepts as well as their creative thinking. To answer the above question a number of zero hypotheses were formulated and Al- Mamoon intermediate school for boys / Baghdad "was advisedly chosen t0 be a place for carrying out the experiment. Two sections of the third grade intermediate school students were randomly chosen to represent section A, i.e… The experimental group consisting of (30) students that have studied the prescribed course of study, namely, the real numbers, by applying Vikotesky's theory, whereas section D was chosen to represent the controlled group, consisting of (28) students, that have studied the same courses by following the usual method. The two groups were given an equal number of variables which are thought to have influence on the variables relating to the independent variable, then the first variable (acquisition of math. concepts) was measured through a multiple choice test prepared by the research worker for the afar – mentioned purpose consisting of (33) items. The test was given to a group of specialists in order to assess its suitability for the said purpose. Having been convinced of clarity of its instructions and comprehensibility of its items, the test was given to a preliminary sample consisting of (60) students randomly chosen from among Al-Mansoor intermediate school students /Baghdad Later on. The test was given to a second randomly chosen sample of students, other than the first one, in order to verify its efficiency and consistency. Then a number of statistical analyses were carried out on the outcome of the test. Consequently, the second variable creative thinking was measured by applying the creative thinking test prepared by (khairullah). The research worker has previously adapted the said test and used it in the year 2002 in a way agreeing with the Iraqi environment. After the elapse of two years since application of the test, it was re- adapted and checked, then given to a sample of (50) third grade intermediate school students randomly chosen from the remaining sections of the experimental school Now, before putting the experiment into actual application by one week, the two groups were examined through the creative thinking test. Later on, the mathematical concepts acquisition on them after conclusion of the experiment. Then the marks of the two tests were statistically calculated and treated by using appropriate statistical methods, such as the T-test for two separate samples as well as person’s coefficient factor. The results were as follows 1- Statistically indicative differences at the level of significance (0.05) of the average mark of mathematical concepts acquisition between students of the experimental and controlled groups were found in favor of the experimental group. 2- Statistically indicative differences at the level of significance (0.05) of the average mark of creative thinking between students of both groups were found in favor of the experimental group 3- A positive and acceptable link between acquisition of mathematical concepts and creative thinking was seen among the experimental group. 4- A very weak link between the same two variables was noted among students of the controlled group. In the light of the above the research worker has concluded that by teaching the subject of prescribed mathematics to third grade intermediate students by applying Vikotesky's Theory has given better results than teaching by the usual method in respect of acquisition of mathematical concepts as well as the creative thinking capability. As such, the research worker recommends using this theory in teaching, due to the fact that it is conformity with the modern educational theories, on the one hand, and that teacher training institutes and colleges of education undertake their responsibility in training their students on how to practice teaching in accordance with this theory, on the other. Besides, the research worker has also suggested carrying out further studies on other teaching subjects to other different classes in order to achieve a complete picture in the eyes of those in charge of the educational process.
