The study aimed at exploring the relationship between the students‘ average in the Palestinian General Secondary Certificate Exam (PGSCE) high and their academic achievement in the scientific colleges at the Islamic University of Gaza.⁄The first study sample consisted of all students who have been accepted in the academic year of 2001- 2002 and succeeded in the following years in the scientific colleges at the Islamic University of Gaza including engineering, science and education colleges. The other sample consisted of those who have been accepted in the academic years of 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2003-2004. The analytical research methodology was used. ⁄Results showed that PGSCE average is related to the college GPA in the scientific colleges. ⁄The correlation coefficient was 0.556 which is considered a good indicator for students performance in the first year of study at the university. The correlation value was different when the following variables were taken into account: type of college, gender and high school certificate source. ⁄Several practical ⁄recommendations were presented at the end of the study.
