Obstacles to the application of the total quality standards in the faculty of education at Alexandria University from the faculty’s points of view [Article]
The present study aims at identifying the most important obstacles that prevent the application the total quality management standards in the faculty of Education at Alexandria University according to the faculty’s points of view. This study contributes in diagnosing the aspects of deficiency in faculty’s educational system, provides methods of rectifying them, puts forward strategic plans for overcoming them, and measures the impact of different variables (gender- academic rank – the scientific major) on faculty’s opinions about the obstacles of the application of the total quality standards in the areas of teaching and learning, scientific research, community service, university administration, and faculty’s personal characteristics. The study was implemented on a sample consisting of 100 teaching staff members. The results revealed that the obstacles according to faculty’s views were respectively a (obstacles related to university administration) a mean of 4.5), b) obstacles related to the teaching and learning process (a mean of 4.2), c) obstacles related to scientific research (a mean of 3.9), d) obstacles related to community service (a mean of 3.5), and e) obstacles related to the personal characteristics of the faculty (a mean of 3.4). The results showed no statistically significant differences between the faculty's views of obstacles irrespective of the variables of gender, academic rank or scientific major. (Published Abstract)
