هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى فحص القدرة على تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي وعلاقتها بالتوجهات الهدفية والتحصيل الأكاديمي، ومعرفة مدى اختلاف هذه القدرة باختلاف نوع الكلية والنوع الاجتماعي للطالب. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 468 طالبا وطالبة من طلبة جامعة الحسين بن طلال بمدينة معان في الأردن. ولجمع البيانات تم استخدام مقياس تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي المطوّر من قبل "وارد وزملاؤه" ومقياس التوجهات الهدفية المطوّر من "ميدجلي وزملاؤه". وللإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة استخدمت المتوسطات الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية، وتحليل التباين الثنائي ومعامل الارتباط وتحليل الانحدار البسيط والمتعدد. وقد أشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في القدرة على تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي تعزى إلى متغيري نوع الكلية والنوع الاجتماعي والتفاعل بينهما. كما أشارت النتائج إلى وجود علاقة ارتباطية بين القدرة على تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي وأهداف التعلم، في حين لم تشر النتائج إلى عدم وجود علاقة ارتباطية بين القدرة على تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي وأهداف أداء وأهداف أداء- تجنب. بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد أشارت النتائج إلى وجود علاقة ارتباطية بين القدرة على تأجيل الإشباع الأكاديمي والتحصيل الأكاديمي. This study aimed at examination the ability to academic delay of gratification and its relationship to goal orientations and academic achievement, and whether this ability related to college type and gender. The study sample consisted of 468 male and female students in Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in Ma’an city in Jordan. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher used academic delay of gratification scale which was developed by ward, 1989, and goal orientation scale which was developed by Midgely, etal., 1996. In order to answer the questions of the study, the means, standard deviation, two way ANOVA (2x2), correlation coefficients, and simple and multiple regression were computed. The results of study revealed that there is no statistically significant differences in the ability of academic delay of gratification attribute to college type, gender and interaction between them. In addition, results revealed that there is statistically significant correlation between academic delay of gratification and learning goals, whereas correlation between academic delay of gratification and performance goals and performance- avoidance goals. Finally, results revealed that there is a statistical significant correlation between the ability of academic delay of gratification and academic achievement. (Published abstract)
