المقدمة: الحاجة هي التي توجه السلوك حيث يعمل الفرد على إشباعها، فهي نقطة الانطلاق في السلوك الإنساني وهي بداية أي نشاط يقوم به الفرد، نتيجة ما تحدثه من عدم اتزان داخله، حيث يعمل على البحث عن وسيلة أو هدف لإشباع الحاجات وإعادة التوازن سواء في الجانب العصري أو النفسي. مشكلة الدراسة: تتلخص في سؤال ما الحاجات النفسية لطلبة وطالبات كليتي العلوم والآداب والمجتمع بطبرجل من الإناث والذكور، وفي الفئة العمرية 17-20 سنة؟، وهل تختلف الحاجات النفسية لدى الإناث عن تلك الشائعة بين الذكور؟ وباختلاف الفئة العمرية من 16-18، 18-20 عاما؟ أهمية الدراسة: التركيز على الشباب والتعرف على حاجاتهم النفسية، وإثراء المكتبة النفسية بمعارف ونتائج عن الحاجات النفسية ومدى اختلافها لجهة الجنس والسن. أهداف الدراسة: الكشف عن الحاجات النفسية ومعرفة مدى اختلافها (ذكورا- إناثا) وفي الفئات العمرية من 16-18، 18-21 عاما. العينة الدراسة: العينة المستخدمة يبلغ عددها 60 طالبا وطالبة يبلغ عدد الذكور 30 وعدد من الإناث يبلغ 30 في الفئة العمرية 16-20 عاما. الأدوات: مقياس الحاجات النفسية إعداد (1999Deci& Ryan: ). الأساليب الإحصائية: إختبار (ت) للفروق بين المتوسطات، وطريقة كرونباخ (معامل ألفا). نتائج الدراسة: بينت النتائج أن هناك فروق في درجات متوسطات الحاجات النفسية، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في اتجاه الذكور في الحاجات النفسية المتمثلة في الحاجات الاستقلال، بينما حاجات الانتماء كانت أكثر ظهورًا عند الإناث، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيًا بين الفئة العمرية الأولى والثانية في اتجاه الفئة الأولى في الحاجات النفسية المتمثلة في حاجات الاستقلال وحاجات الكفاءة في اتجاه الفئة الثانية.
