هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى الكشف عن العلاقة بين السيطرة الدماغية والتحصيل الدراسي لدى عينة من طلبة جامعة الحسين بن طلال في الأردن. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 269 طالباً وطالبة من طلبة البكالوريوس المسجلين في التخصصات الإنسانية والعلمية خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني للعام الجامعي 2008/2007م. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف تم تطبيق مقياس سيطرة النصفين الكرويين للدماغ (hemispheres dominance inventory). أظهرت النتائج شيوع السيطرة الدماغية اليسرى لدى طلبة جامعة الحسين بن طلال، وأنه لا علاقة ارتباطية دالة إحصائياًّ (α≤ 0.05) بين نمط السيطرة الدماغية والجنس والتحصيل الدراسي في حين وجدت علاقة ارتباطية دالة إحصائياًّ (α≤ 0.05) بين نمط السيطرة الدماغية والتخصص الأكاديمي. وأوصى الباحثان بضرورة تنشيط الجانب الأيمن للدماغ، وإجراء مزيد من الدراسات حول السيطرة الدماغية وعلاقتها ببعض المتغيرات المعرفية. This study investigates the relationship between brain hemisphere dominance and academic achievement. The study sample included 269 students enrolled in Al-Hussein Bin Talal University during the year 2007/2008. To achieve the study’s aims, a hemispheres dominance inventory scale was administrated. Results of the study reveal that dominance of the left brain hemisphere demonstrated a propensity for using patterns. Results indicate no significant correlation between brain hemisphere, gender, and academic achievement, whereas there was a significant correlation between brain hemisphere and academic major. The study concludes with a number of recommendations including the importance of activating functions of the right brain hemisphere and conducting more studies about brain hemisphere dominance and its relationship with certain cognitive variables.
