هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد فعالية استخدام الأسلوب التكاملي بين العلوم والتربية الفنية على تحصيل المتعلمات في مادة العلوم بالمرحلة المتوسطة. والتعرف على اتجاهات المتعلمات نحو المادتين قبل وبعد تدريس الوحدة، ثم التعرف على مدى الارتباط بين درجات تحصيل المتعلمات في مادة العلوم واتجاهاتهن نحو دراسة كل من مقرر العلوم والتربية الفنية ولتحقيق هذا الهدف اتبعت الدراسة ما يلي: اختيار فصلين من الصف الثالث المتوسط بإحدى مدارس مدينة الرياض لتكون مجموعة تجريبية واحدة، ثم إعداد وحدة في التعبير الفني بعنوان (العودة من المستقبل) وقد تم تدريس هذه الوحدة في شكل مسابقة بين المتعلمات على عمل لوحتين تعبر واحدة عن الحاضر والأخرى عن المستقبل مع كتابة تقرير وصفي عن كل عمل والأفكار التي صاحبته ولها علاقة بالمفاهيم التي درستها عن إيجابيات وسلبيات التقدم الصناعي والتغيرات التي يمكن أن تطرأ على الحياة في المستقبل مع إدخال الخيال في التعبير. توصلت الدراسة إلى النتائج التالية: زيادة تحصيل المتعلمات في مادة العلوم، وارتفاع عدد المتعلمات في مستوى التحصيل المتوسط وفوق المتوسط وقل عدد المتعلمات في المستوى تحت المتوسط. ارتفع مستوى اتجاه المتعلمات نحو دراسة العلوم والتربية الفنية. هذا بالإضافة إلى وجود علاقة ارتباط بين الدرجات التحصيلية للمتعلمات في الاختبار البعدي في مادة العلوم ونتائج التطبيق البعدي لمقياس الاتجاه نحوكل من العلوم والتربية الفنية. The objectives of this study were to: 1) measure the effectiveness of integrating science and visual arts in a science course designed for third-year preparatory schoolgirls; 2) identify the tendencies of the learners (sample group) towards science and Art Education before and after teaching the unit and; 3) find the correlation between the achievement of the learners in the science course and their attitude toward science and art. The procedure of the study included: 1) Choosing two preparatory classes in a school in Riyadh to form an experimental group; 2) Preparing a unit in Art Education entitled; “A Return from the Future” and; 3) Presenting the unit in the form of a competition among the learners. Each learner was asked to draw after 50 years. Each learner was asked to write a descriptive report on her works, the concepts related to the positive and the negative aspects of scientific progress and the expected effects of this progress on life in general. The learners were guided to use their imagination in writing the reports. The results of the study show: 1) An improvement in the learners’ achievement in the science course; 2) An increase in the number of average and above average learners and a decrease in the number of below average learners; 3) A stronger motivation on the part of the learners in the science course and Art Education course and; 4) A correlation between the achievement of the learners in the science post test as well as in measuring the learners' tendencies in the science course and the Art Education course. The paper concludes by giving a number of recommendations and suggestions for future studies in this field. (Published abstract)
