Vocabulary is one of the most important skills in EFL learning; it plays a great role in learning the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing. One of the main difficulties EFL learners face is the insufficient vocabulary knowledge. The vocabulary learning process depends heavily on students’ own interests, needs and motivation. When students try to learn new vocabularies, they cannot satisfy themselves because they find a lot of obstacles in memorizing words and learning the grammatical rules of using these words. So, teachers should find a good tool to attract students’ attention and make them memorize a great number of vocabularies easily. Nowadays, strategies and techniques, which are used in vocabulary learning, become insufficient and seem to be not effective for the learners. Therefore, teachers need a modern tool to keep pace with modernity. This study aims at investigating EFL college students’ difficulties in vocabularies. To achieve the aim of the study, a test consists of 20 items was designed. Because of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which stopped the whole world from Feb.2020 till now and to save time and effort, the researchers worked on a Google form sheet to apply the test on “student” online. The sample of the study was chosen randomly from the 4th stage in “University of Baghdad, College of Education for Women/Department of English” during the academic year 2019/2020. Then, the test items responses were analyzed according to students’ correct responses with percentages. The researchers end their study by conclusions, recommendations and suggestions for further studies. (Published abstract)
