هدفت الدراسة إلى استكشاف صورة المرأة في الكتب الدراسية في مرحلتي التعليم الأساسي الابتدائي والمتوسط، وذلك من خلال أدوار المرأة والمجالات التي تم التعرض لها عند الحديث عن المرأة والحالة الاجتماعية للمرأة في كتب اللغة العربية والمواد الاجتماعية، استخدم منهج تحليل المضمون لمحتوى الكتب الدراسية المشار إليها، وذلك في ضوء الفئات التالية: أدوار المرأة، المجالات،. والحالة الاجتماعية. أظهرت النتائج أن أدوار المرأة جاءت مرتبة ترتيباً تنازلياً على النحو التالي: الأم، الفتاة، التلميذة، الأخت، المرأة، البنت، المعلمة، المسلمة، الطبيبة، الزوجة، الجدة، الممرضة، في جميع كتب اللغة العربية والمواد الاجتماعية في المرحلتين الابتدائية والمتوسطة. وجاءت المجالات مرتبة ترتيباً تنازلياً: الديني والتاريخي، التعليمي والتربوي، التقليدي، المهني، الأسري، الأخلاقي في جميع كتب اللغة العربية والمواد الاجتماعية في المرحلتين الابتدائية والمتوسطة. وجاءت الحالة الاجتماعية مرتبة ترتيباً تنازلياً: المتزوجة، والمطلقة، والأرملة. This study aimed at investigating the image of women in Arabic language and social studies textbooks of primary and middle stages through the roles of women, the different social aspects and social status presented in the textbooks of Arabic language and social studies. The method of content Analysis was used to investigate the following: 1) Women roles: mother, daughter, student, sister, teacher, Muslim, doctor, wife, grandmother, and nurse. 2) Aspects: religious and historical, educated and instructional, traditional, professional, family and moral. 3) Social status: wife, divorced, and widow. The study revealed the following: 1) The roles of women occurred descending as follows: mother, daughter, student, sister, women, teacher, Muslim, doctor, wife, grandmother, and nurse. 2) The aspects occurred descending as follows: religious and historical, educational, instructional, traditional, professional, family, and moral. 3) Social status: occurred descending as follows: wife, divorced, and widow. In the light of the results of the study, the researchers recommended the following: new roles of women should be included in school curricula that agree with the new directions adopted by Saudi state with regards to achieving effective participation and break any negative conception that leads to create a classic image of Saudi women in textbooks. Finally, the curricula should take the educational content in balance while dealing with women’s mission as a mother, wife, working women, religion and national aspects. (Published abstract)
