انطلاقًا من كون عملية النشر العلمي تعد ضرورة لنشر المعرفة والمساهمة في إثراء وتراكم المعرفة عبر الزمان والمكان، لذا فإنّ أغلب المجلات والدوريات العلمية تسعى دائمًا إلى الالتزام بالمعايير الخاصة بالكتابة والتوثيق والنشر واكتساب المهارات لذلك عند الكتابة وإجراء الدراسات والأبحاث العلمية .وسعت هذه الدراسة إلى استعراض واستقراء ماهية النشر العلمي، وأنواعه ومتطلباته ومعاييره، مع توضيح المميزات والصعوبات والتحديات التي تحول دون الأخذ به والاستفادة منه في تطويره وتحقيقه لأهدافه، وذلك من خلال تناول النقاط التالية: المقصود بالنشر العلمي، مراحل تطوره وأنواعه، المعايير والمتطلبات للنشر العلمي، والصعوبات التي تواجه النشر العلمي، وآلية مقترحة لتفعيل دور الجامعات والمؤسسات الحكومية للنشر العلمي. Given that the scientific publishing process is a necessity to spread knowledge and contribute to the enrichment and accumulation of knowledge across time and space, most scientific journals and periodicals always seek to adhere to the writing standards, citation, and publishing, and acquire the skills of writing and conducting studies and scientific research. This study sought to review and extrapolate the nature of scientific publishing, its types, requirements, and standards. It also sought to clarify the advantages, difficulties, and challenges that prevent its adoption and benefit from it in developing and achieving its goals by addressing the following points: What is meant by scientific publication, its development stages and types, standards and requirements for scientific publication, the difficulties facing scientific publishing, and a proposed mechanism to activate the role of universities and government institutions in scientific publishing.
