Problem: how does the language used in social networking sites affect Egyptian university youth culturally, linguistically, and cognitively through a semiotic study of this language? Importance: the extreme impact of Egyptian university youth use of social media, and the need to study the dimensions of cultural alienation, which constitutes the cultural identity of youth, who use these sites. The study aimed to monitor the relationship between the language semiotics of social networking sites and cultural alienation, and to identify the different levels of social media users of youth through a semiotic analysis of the language used. Types methodology: this study relied on the theory of semiotics. Tools: focus group discussion, with is qualitative part to measure the axes of cultural alienation on the research sample, and to know the nature of its use Egyptian university youth are a sample of Facebook searches and the influence they have from this use. The field study sample tool for focus group discussion was applied to a sample of social media users from Egyptian university youth, divided equally between males and females, and the sample was divided into 8 separate groups, each group consisting of 8 items from the respondents. Results: the impact of the youth’s use of social media greatly contributed to the formation of a state of cultural alienation, and the sample agreed to use different levels of language on social media sites, in the following order: colloquial language, then classical Arabic, and then franco, in order to learn about cultures and the various societal experiences spread on social networking sites, by forming new relationships outside the university framework, in addition to entertainment and emptying energies in comedic and satirical readings.
