هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على العوامل التي تقود إلى تأخر سن الزواج في المجتمع الأردني. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم تصميم استبانة لجمع البيانات من المبحوثين حيث اعتمدت الدراسة على منهج المسح الاجتماعي واستخدام الاستبانة كأداة رئيسة لجمع البيانات. تكون مجتمع الدراسة من (160) مبحوث، وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج كان من أبرزها: 1) وجود اتجاهات إيجابية نحو تأخر سن الزواج والعنوسة. 2) وجود علاقة بين العنوسة في المجتمع الأردني ومتغيرات (العمر، المستوى التعليمي، مستوى الدخل، عدد مرات الزواج) من وجهة نظر موظفي جامعة مؤتة. وتوصلت الدراسة من خلال نتائجها إلى عدداً من التوصيات من أهمها: دعوة المؤسسات الاجتماعية لتنفيذ برامج وسياسات اقتصادية واجتماعية ﻟﻠﺤﺩ ﻤﻥ ﺍﻵﺜﺎﺭ ﺍﻟﺴﻠﺒﻴﺔ لظاهرة العنوسة وﺘﺄﺨﺭ ﺴﻥ ﺍﻟﺯﻭﺍج. The study aimed to identify the spinsterhood and rising age of marriage in the Jordanian society. To achieve the study objectives of the study on the social survey methodology and the use of the questionnaire as a tool head of the data collection adopted the study population consisted of (160) respondents, the study found a range of results, highlighted by: 1) The existence of positive trends towards higher age of marriage and spinsterhood. 2) The existence of a relationship between the role of spinsterhood in Jordanian society and (age, educational level, income level, number of times married) from the viewpoint of the employees Mutah University. The study by the results to a number of recommendations including: call social institutions to implement programs of economic and social policies to reduce the negative effects of the phenomenon of spinsterhood and delayed age of marriage.
