The present study aims to investigate the skills of reading biological pictures and illustrations for the students of fifth grade scientific Branch. In order to achieve this goal, the two researchers set up the research tool, which is a test for the skills of reading biological pictures and illustrations that includes 40 multiple choice items. Reliability and validity are observed when the tool is built up. The study sample includes 200 female students from AlQadisiya governorate city centre and they selected randomly from the governorate's schools. The results reveal that female students have skills of reading biological pictures and illustrations. The study shows that the skill of observation is the highest one, link among relationships is the next one, conclusion and the lowest skills are interpretation and pictures analysis skills. Based on the results of the study, the researchers introduce some recommendations and suggestions. (Published abstract)
