The study aims to examine the effect of using guided discovery courseware in teaching computer courses on academic achievement of first grade secondary female students in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A quiz-experimental methodology based on pre and post design was used with two groups. The experimental group studied Computer Literacy using the discovery oriented software and the control group studied the same subject using the traditional method. The sample of the study consisted of 62 female students divided into two groups, each group consisted of 31 students. To achieve the aims of the study, the following tools were designed: educational software based on discovery oriented principles, and an achievement test that measures Bloom intellectual levels. The study reached to the following result: There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test in all of Blooms levels in favor of the experimental group. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations were provided to use Discovery oriented based courseware to teach Computer Literacy and suggestions for future studies were provided.(Published Abstract)
