The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the ability to solve problems and decision-making with the psychological hardiness of the university employees with administrative positions. The study also aimed to identify the differences between the sexes as well as the differences between the levels of experience among the university employees in the three variables of study. The aim of the study was to identify the ability to solve problems and decision- making in predicting psychological hardiness. The study sample consisted of (234) Fayoum University employees with administrative positions (161 male and 73 female), ranging in age from 35-57 years. The study tools included the ability to solve problems scale, decision-making scale, And the psychological hardiness scale. The study found the following results: The existence of a positive correlation between the ability to solve problems and decision-making and psychological hardiness. The results indicated also the existence of differences between the employees of the university high and low of the psychological hardiness in both the ability to solve problems and decision-making in the direction of high psychological hardiness. The results also found that there were gender differences among university employees in the dimensions of problem identification and formulation, generation of alternatives, implementation and verification of the problem, as well as the total degree of the problem solving ability, in the direction of males, There are also differences between the sexes in the psychological hardiness (dimensions and total degree) in the direction of males, while the results found that there were no gender differences in the orientation towards the problem, and decision-making. The results also indicated that both problem identification and formulation, generation of alternatives, and decision-making were the most variables contributing to predicting psychological hardiness.(Published Abstract)
