استهدفت الدراسة التعرف على دور الجامعات الأردنية في مواجهة العولمة الثقافية من وجهة نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس من خلال الإجابة عن السؤال: ما دور الجامعات الأردنية في مواجهة العولمة الثقافية من وجهة نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس؟ اتبعت هذه الدراسةُ المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وقدْ بَلغ عدد أفراد العينة 283 عضو هيئة تدريس في الجامعات الحكومية والخاصة، بنسبة 10% من مجتمع الدراسة. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة، استخدمت استبانة خاصة. ولمعالجةِ البيانات إحصائيا، استُخدمت المتوسطات الحسابِية والانحرافات المعيارية لتقديرات أفراد العينة حول فقرات الاستبانة. ومن أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة: إنّ فلسفة الجامعات لا تعد الأفراد لمواجهة إشكاليات التباين بين ما هو محلّي وما هو عالمي، ولا تشجع المعلم (عضو هيئة التدريس) على ضرورة القيام بالأبحاث الإجرائية؛ وأنّ المتعلم لا يدرك الأبعاد المختلفة للعولمة بشكل عام ومخاطر العولمة الثقافية بشكل خاص. يضاف إلى ذلك أنّ الخطط الدراسية لا تتناول موضوعات تعالج الثقافة الاستهلاكية، وأنّ الجامعات لا تسهم في إحداث التكيّف السريع بين المتعلم والبيئة من خلال تزويده بالمعرفة والتطبيق. This study was conducted to identify the role of Jordanian universities in facing cultural globalization as perceived by academic staff. The paper used the analytical descriptive method. A survey was administered to a sample which consisted of 283 staff members representing 10% of the total number of academic staff at the Jordanian universities. Data analysis involved the use of standard deviations and statistical means. Findings revealed that Jordanian universities do not seem to prepare individuals to face the contrast between and/ or distinguish between what is national vs. what is international. No effective encouragement is seemingly given to academic staff to conduct research of pragmatic nature. Also, learners appear to be neither fully aware of the different angles of globalization in general nor attentive to the possible dangers of cultural globalization in particular. Study plans seem neither to address issues such as consumption culture nor to assist learners to promptly cope with their surroundings in a changing world via the integration of cognitive knowledge and practical approaches.
