هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على نسبة أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين الذين يعتمدون في إجراء بحوثهم العلمية على محركات البحث الآلية وعلى قواعد المعلومات الإلكترونية المتاحة في مكتبة جامعة طيبة، وعلى أسباب استخدامهم لها، والتحديات التي تواجههم عند الاستخدام. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة اعتمد المنهج المسحي من خلال تصميم استبانة أعدّت لهذا الغرض، وقد تكوّنت عينة الدراسة من 25 عضو هيئة تدريس و25 طالب دراسات عليا في جامعة طيبة بالمدينة المنورة. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن نسبة استخدام أعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين لمحركات البحث الآلية أكبر من استخدامهم لقواعد المعلومات الإلكترونية المتاحة في مكتبة جامعة طيبة بالمدينة المنورة، وكانت أهم محركات البحث الآلية المستخدمة من قبلهم هي: Google وYahoo، بينما كانت أهم قواعد المعلومات المستخدمة هي Science Direct وERIC، كما اتضح أيضا أن من أهم أسباب ارتفاع استخدامهم لمحركات البحث الآلية يتمثل في تنوع مصادر المعلومات، وارتباط النتائج التي يتم الحصول عليها بموضوع البحث، وسهولة وسرعة البحث من خلال محركات البحث الآلية؛ وأن من أهم أسباب استخدامهم لقواعد المعلومات الإلكترونية تتمثل في الاطلاع على الأبحاث والدراسات والثقافة في غير مجال التخصص، واعتماد الدراسات والأبحاث من حيث التحكيم، كما تبين أيضاً أن من أهم التحديات التي تواجههم عند استخدام محركات البحث الآلية تتمثل في ضوابط الاستخدام التي تضعها الجهة المزوّدة للخدمة، وصعوبة توثيق المصادر واختلاف النتائج من محرك بحث لآخر؛ وأن من أهم الأسباب التي أدت إلى قلة استخدامهم لقواعد المعلومات الإلكترونية هي ضعف مهارات البحث الإلكتروني في قواعد المعلومات، وعدم وجود إستراتيجية موحدة في جمع قواعد المعلومات، وعدم توافر النص الكامل في بعض المقالات والدراسات.. ولقد أوصت الدراسة بضرورة القيام بدورات تدريبية وورش عمل لأعضاء هيئة التدريس والباحثين حول مهارات البحث من خلال محركات البحث الآلية وقواعد المعلومات الإلكترونية، وضرورة توفير دليل إرشادي حول كيفية استخدام تلك المحركات بطريقة واضحة وبسيطة. The current study aimed at recognizing the percentage of faculty professors and researchers who rely on automatic search engines and electronic data bases available at the library of Tiba University. It also aimed at recognizing the reasons for their use and the challenges they encounter. In order to achieve the objective of this study, the survey methodology was used through interface design prepared for this reason. The examined sample composed of 25 faculty professors and 25 post graduate students at Tiba University, Medina. The study found that the ratio of usage of automatic search engines faculty professors and researchers is greater than their usage of electronic databases available in the library of Tiba University, Medina. The major automatic search engines they used were: Google and Yahoo, while the most important electronic databases used were ERIC and Science Direct. It was also found that the most important reasons for the high usage rate of automatic search engines is the diversity of information sources, the relevance of the obtained results to the research topic, the ease and the quick pace of searching through search engines. As for the most important reasons for their usage of electronic data base were viewing researches, studies and culture apart from the major and the approval of studies and researches in terms of arbitration. It was also revealed that the most important challenges they face when using automatic search engines is the use controls established by the service provider, the difficulty of documenting the sources and the variation of results from one search engine to another. Among the main reasons that led to their limited use of electronic databases were represented in the poor skills of electronic searches in databases, the lack of a unified strategy in the collection of databases and the lack of full-text in some articles and studies. The study has recommended the necessity for training courses and workshops for faculty professors and researchers on research skills through automatic search engines and electronic mechanism databases, the need to provide a guide on how to use it in a clear and easy way.
