هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف مدى احتواء كتب العلوم في المرحلة الأساسية المتوسطة في الأردن على المفاهيم البيئية، وذلك من خلال تحليل محتوى كتب العلوم للصفوف الخامس، والسادس، والسابع. وشملت عينة الدراسة كل المجتمع الأصلي لكتب العلوم في المرحلة الأساسية المتوسطة (الخامس والسادس والسابع الأساسي). ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة جرى إعداد قائمة بالمفاهيم البيئية المقترح تضمينها في كتب العلوم في المرحلة المتوسطة؛ وقد جرى استخدام وحدتين في التحليل: الكلمة والفكرة. توصلت الدراسة إلى جملة من النتائج منها: 1) بلغ مجموع المفاهيم البيئية المتضمنة في كتب العلوم 70 مفهومًا بواقع 626 تكرارا. 2) وجود فروق بين مجموع تكرارات المفاهيم البيئية في كتب العلوم، عينة الدراسة، ولصالح كتاب العلوم للصف (الخامس). 3) حصل المجال الثاني (موارد البيئة) على المرتبة الأولى بتكرار بلغ 218، وجاء في المرتبة الأخيرة مجال الأخلاقيات البيئية بتكرار بلغ صفر. هذه النتائج تشير إلى مناسبة نسبة المفاهيم البيئية المتضمنة في كتب العلوم للصف الخامس والسادس وعدم مناسبة نسبة المفاهيم البيئية في كتاب العلوم للصف السابع. كما أن هذه النتائج متفقة مع ما ورد في كثير من الدراسات السابقة ذات الصلة بموضوع البحث وإن كانت بعض جزئياتها تخالف ما توصلت إليه بعض الدراسات ولكنها في العموم متسقة مع الأدب العام لموضوع الدراسة. The purpose of this study was to identify the extent of the inclusion of standard environmental concepts for middle basic stage science textbooks in Jordan through content analysis of the science textbooks for the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades. The study sample included all the original community of science textbooks in the middle basic stage textbooks (fifth, sixth and the seventh grades). To achieve the goal of the study, a checklist including a list of proposed concepts in the science textbooks in the middle basic grades was developed. The analysis involved two units, including the word and the idea. Findings show the following: 1) The total environmental concepts contained in the science textbooks was 70 concepts with 626 frequencies. 2) There are differences between the total frequencies of environmental concepts in science textbooks and study sample in favor of the fifth grade science textbook. 3) The second area (environmental resources) ranked first with 218 frequen-cies while the environmental ethics ranked last with zero frequencies. These results suggest that there is an appropriate proportion of the concepts contained in the environmental science textbooks for the fifth and sixth grades and unsuitable proportion of environmental concepts in the science textbook for the seventh grade. These results are consistent with those reported in many previous studies relevant to the subject though there were differences related to some details of the findings of some studies.
