هدفت الدراسة الى تعرّف العلاقة بين أنماط المعاملة الوالدية كما يدركه المراهقون وعلاقتها بتفاؤلهم وتشاؤمهم، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من 312 طالبا وطالبة مقسمين إلى 153 طالبا و159 طالبة، وتراوحت أعمارهم بين 15-17 بمتوسط حسابي 20.17 وانحراف معياري 2.68. واستخدمت الدراسة مقياس أنماط المعاملة الوالدية إعداد أمبو وترجمة عبد الرحمن والمغربي 1989، والقائمة العربية للتفاؤل والتشاؤم إعداد عبد الخالق، 1996، واستمارة المستوى الاجتماعي الاقتصادي إعداد الباحث. وتوصلت الدراسة الى النتائج التالية: 1) وجود علاقة بين أنماط المعاملة الوالدية كما يدركها المراهقون وتفاؤلهم وتشاؤمهم. 2) وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطات درجات الذكور والإناث في درجة التفاؤل لصالح الذكور كذلك وجود فروق بين متوسطات الذكور والإناث في درجة التشاؤم لصالح الإناث. 3) وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في درجة التفاؤل تعزي إلى اختلاف المستوى الاجتماعي الاقتصادي، كذلك وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في درجة التشاؤم تعزى إلى اختلاف المستوى الاجتماعي الاقتصادي. The study aimed at identifying the effect of parent’s interaction styles as perceived by adolescents on their optimism and pessimism, the study sample consisted of N= 312 students 153 males, 159 females the age between 15-17 years with average Mean M= 20.17 and standard deviation St=2.68. The instruments were utilized the Arab inventory of optimism and pessimism (Abdel-khalek, 1996) and Parental rear’ as perceived by adolescents (Embo translate by Abd alrhman and almagrabi, 1989) A social- economic level from, prepared by the researcher. The results indicate that there is a statistical significant effect of parents interaction style on adolescent's optimism and pessimism, showing that positive interaction style correlates with adolescents on their optimism and pessimism and there were a statistical significant differences between males and females in optimism and pessimism since males were more optimistic than females and females were more pessimistic than males. There were statistical significant differences in the degree of optimism as perceived by students due to variance in parents’ social- economic level in favor of the higher social- economic level.
