Elaf AB - The main aim of this research is to determine the effect of large classes on student's achievement at Tikrit University, college of Education for Women, English department, 1st class students. Large classes are defined in this study as classes of more than 30 students. There are many tools of data collection used such as: a questionnaire and students’ final exam results. Results revealed a significant relationship between achievement and class size. It shows the effect of class size on students’ achievement. In addition, it may help in developing a technique that caters for large classes. Moreover, it is hoped to draw university administrators ' attention to limit the number of students in English courses.
