AU - السويد، محمد بن ناصر الشهيل AB - The study aims to identify the reality of the school in teaching citizenship values to students through a survey of the school leaders and students’ counselors of general education schools in Riyadh, and the variation of responses according to the administrative position, experience, and training. The study uses two descriptive survey and documentation methods. The study also uses a questionnaire as a tool consisting of (20) items, representing the four themes of the study that was applied to a cluster random sample. The study found that the members of the study sample generally agreed on the themes of the questionnaire which are arranged in a descending order as follows: the value of belonging to the homeland, the value of participation and democracy, the value of freedom, the value of dialogue with the other. There were statistical significance at (0.01) on all themes of the questionnaire due to the variable of position in favor of the group of the study sample of the school leaders and due to the dialogue training courses variable in favor of those who attended 4-6 courses. The author presented a number of recommendations, the most important of which include: integrating the values of citizenship in the accreditation standards for schools; designing training programs supervised by the national commission for academic accreditation and assessment, supervised by the ministry of education, besides integrating the criteria of citizenship as one of the performance indicators for the school leaders and student counselors.
