AU - القحطاني، منيرة بنت ملهي AU - داغستاني، بلقيس إسماعيل AB - This study aimed to identify guidance methods used by kindergarten teachers and to identify the effect of guidance methods on increasing stubbornness in kindergarten children. The descriptive approach was used in this study; the sample was 120 kindergarten children in public schools in the north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The study found that the most important methods of guidance used by kindergarten teachers are to use reinforcement with children; use expressive method of disagreeing with the children’s wrong behavior; use preaching with the child; use the method of task or job appointing; and use the consequences alarm with the child. The most prominent effects of guidance methods that increase stubbornness in the kindergarten child is the repetition of undesirable behavior after the use of the method of comparison between the child and others; after the use of isolation from the community; after the use of the method of praising others in front of him; after the use of chair thinking as a method to guide behavior; and after using threat as a method of directing behavior. The study also found many recommendations, including the need to train pre-school teachers on the skills of guiding children's behavior and the participation with others. Moreover, the study recommended raising awareness of the methods of directing behavior and their impact on children, and the need to evaluate children because it makes the teacher aware of what the child achieved in learning. In addition, it recommended involving teachers in choosing the content, curriculum, and the activities of preschool children.
