AU - المحلاوي، نجلاء أحمد AB - The current study aimed to investigate the academic Arabic language knowledge among the students of the general diploma in education. The study sample consisted of 220 students of the general diploma, Arabic Language Specification, graduates of: Faculty of Arts, Dar Al Uloom, and Islamic Studies Institute - Arabic Language Division. In order to this end, a list of the most important linguistic knowledge needed to teach the language in public education, was designed in the light of the Arabic language directors’ views, Teachers’ trainers in the Arabic Language Departments at the faculty of Education, and teaching methods specialists in the curriculum and Teaching methods departments, then it was judged, and a test to measure the level of language knowledge was designed in light of the previous list. The procedures and the appropriate statistical treatments were conducted; to ensure its sincerity and stability, and the acceptable level of proficiency was set to 80% of 63 total questions. The results revealed a low level of academic language knowledge among the sample. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the sample members in the linguistic proficiency level test, the significant average of this test was (50 degrees); the value of (t) marks at the level 0.05 > α, with 219 as a Degree of freedom; So, the first null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Accordingly, there is a distinguish between the meaningful average scores of the test sample as a whole, and the test significant average; the overall average of the sample 22.0773 was lower than the significant average (50), which was not in favor of the research sample. The study concluded to a number of recommendations and proposals for similar studies on different research communities.
