AU - حميده، السيد فتوح السيد AB - The present study aimed at: determining a criterion checklist for special education teacher preparation program, evaluating the current preparation program in light of the international standards and experiences and, finally, presenting a suggested view for the special education teacher preparation program in faculty of education, helwan university in light of the local, regional and international standards. In doing so, the researcher adopted the analytical descriptive approach. To achieve the aim of the study the researcher used : a standard for designing special education teacher preparation program (prepared by the researcher), a student – teacher questionnaire to identify the importance and feasibility of the program courses (prepared by the researcher) , and a teaching staff members questionnaire to determine : the program’s aims, its mission and vision , methods of teaching and facilities provided by the department and the faculty as well and the evaluation techniques used (prepared by the researcher) . The sample of the study consisted of 43 students and 20 of the teaching staff members who were chosen randomly from the special education program. The data was collected and analyzed. The results showed that there were shortcomings regarding the current preparation program of special education teacher. Therefore, the researcher recommended the consideration of the presented suggested view with regard to the preparation of the special education teacher in light of the worldwide used standards.
