AU - كردي، سحر بنت عبد اللطيف AB - Himmah (Mettle) is a concept that is commonly used by the public. However, it is not classified as a psychological-motivational term for those in the field of psychology. For this reason, the main objective of this study was to define this concept, to determine its components and its factorial structure. This study also determined the nature of the relationship between Himmah and locus of control. The objectives of this study were to determine the factorial structure for the Himmah variable by testing the following hypothesis: 1) himmah is consisted of multidimensional factorial structure. 2) The general level of Himmah for the students of the girls’ college in Jeddah is less than the accepted required maximum grade values (mean values + standard deviation). 3) There is no significant difference between the means of the student's scores in the Himmah test based on the field of study (humanities or sciences). 4) There is no significant difference between the means of the student's scores in the Himmah based on the academic level (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th level). This study was conducted on a sample containing 580 female students from the girls’ college of education in Jeddah. It was performed by using the Himmah test (prepared by the researcher) and Rotter test of locus of control (translated by Alaa' Kafafi) with some modification made by the researcher of this study to fit the studied sample and the local Saudi society. By using factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and correlation coefficient values, the following results were determined: 1) it was concluded from the factorial analysis that there are three parameters: the first one is called self-efficacy, the second is called perceived value of time and the third one is self-transcendental. 2) The general level of Himmah for the students according to the Himmah test is low. 3) There is no significant difference concerning the Himmah level based on the academic field. In another words, academic fields does not have a significant effect on the level of Himmah. 4) There is a significant difference concerning the Himmah level based on the academic level of the female students of the three upper levels. On other words, academic level significantly affects the level of Himmah of the female students.
