AU - الشايع، علي بن صالح بن علي AB - The development of school work in Muslim community requires a conscious management that derives its characteristics and objectives of Islamic education, and at the same time aware of intellectual shifts as well as local, regional and global changes. Successful administration is sticking to Islamic values and recognizes the need for development, and lead purposeful change in all of school aspects. The present study aimed at determining the criteria that should be taken into consideration when selecting secondary school principals from Islamic education perspective, and checking the availability of these criteria in school principals from Qassim region secondary school teachers’ perspectives. It also aimed at recognizing the significance differences between secondary school teachers’ responses towards the availability of these criteria, which are attributable to some variables including: gender, school location, qualification, and years of experience. To achieve these objectives, the study utilized descriptive survey approach, questionnaire was applied as data collection instrument of a sample of the study amounted to 331 of Qassim secondary school teachers. The study found a range of outcomes, including: the basic criteria of school principal selection from the Islamic education perspective are related to power and honesty which God has collected in a verse that means the best you can hire is the strong and the honest. Regarding to the rest of the criteria that followed, the results indicated the availability of Islamic criteria that are related to personal qualities of Qassim secondary school principals in Qassim were highly available, while those related to administrative tasks and standards were moderately available. There were statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample of the study due to gender in favour of males, while there were no statistically significant differences attributed to school location of the school, qualification, specialization, and years of experience. The study recommended abandoning traditional methods of selecting secondary school principals, as well developing criteria of section according to Islamic standards, and dissemination of organizational culture in the educational environment which could assist in establishing administrative qualities, tasks and standards derived from the Islamic Educational thought.
