AU - الكثيري، خلود بنت راشد AB - The study aimed to investigate the role of story in promoting language skills for kindergarten children from the perspective of their teachers. It aimed to identify the role of story in promoting the skills of listening, speaking and readiness for reading. The study followed the descriptive analytical approach. The questionnaire was used as research tool. The study sample consisted of 41 kindergarten teachers in Riyadh. The results showed that kindergarten teachers in Riyadh believe that the story plays an important role in developing the skills of listening, speaking and readiness for reading for kindergarten children. The results also indicated that there are no statistically significant differences in participants’ responses in all the study variables, i.e., type of kindergarten, years of experience, specialization field. The study recommended the following: granting incentives and rewards to encourage teachers to use story in the teaching process, conducting training workshops and courses for kindergarten teachers on the art of telling stories.
