AU - الرويس، عزيزة سعد علي AB - Educational systems have undergone great development in developed countries, and the required roles of teachers and faculty have changed. The current research aims at investigating the academic roles of the English teacher in the colleges of education in Riyadh region. The research was based on the descriptive approach to identify these academic roles and compare the degree of their practice with English teachers in the faculties of education in Riyadh region. The research sample consisted of 30 language teachers randomly selected from English language teachers at the colleges of education at the universities of Riyadh region. The research tools included a questionnaire for English language teachers to assess their practice of academic roles .The results showed that there was a diversity between language teachers in the degree of practice of their academic roles, according to the prevailing administrative systems at the university they follow. The research recommended the importance of development of the performance of language teachers in universities before and during the service to ensure the quality of academic performance.
