AU - بايزيد، أفنان عبد الله محمد AB - The study aims to reveal the relationship between parenting styles and self-esteem of students with learning disabilities at primary grades in Jeddah. The study sample consisted of (150) students in the third grade. The researcher used the descriptive approach. The researcher used, the Parental Rearing Scale by Al Hawarneh in (2005) and Self – Esteem Scale, by Al Dhaidan in (2003). The results show that (authoritarianism – Neglect) is the most common parenting styles, while the (democratic – overprotection) is the least one. The highest degree of self-esteem is (family self-esteem), while the lowest is (school self-esteem). There is no correlation between the total score of parenting styles of father and mothers and all the dimensions of self-esteem, except the family self-esteem, where there is a negative correlative relationship between it and total degree of parenting styles of mothers. There are also significant differences between the sample responses in accordance to the variable of study. One of the most important recommendations: Support students with low self – esteem by providing them with counseling services. Offer training courses to teachers of general education and teachers of learning disabilities to help them acquire necessary skills to deal with students with learning disabilities and their families.
