AU - الحويطي، عواد. AB - This study aims to investigate the role of the scientific output of the faculty members in Saudi universities in the service of the Saudi community. To achieve the objective of the study, the descriptive method was used and a tool was developed for the study which included 8 open type questions and 24. The study sample consisted of 118 faculty members who were selected in the random stratified sample method from the universities of Tabuk and Al-Jawf. The results of the study showed that 64% of the members of the study participated in the preparation of 6-9 research, and that 63.6% of the faculty members did not participate in the preparation of research services of service nature of the institutions of Saudi community. The results showed that the role of the scientific output of the faculty members in the service of the community came between the middle and the low grade. The first place was the field of applied research and the intermediate level followed by the field of awareness and education to a small extent. There are differences between dimensions (awareness, education, field of applied research, total degree) depending on the type of college and the scientific colleges. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommended the need to improve the scientific production of the faculty member through the adoption of joint research in the promotion system by a research point for each member, the creation of research partnerships between the university and civil society institutions.
