AU - شرقي، حياة AB - The study aims to verify the effectiveness of a rational-emotive and counseling program in the improvement of the level of self-esteem among a sample of fourth year middle school repeaters. The sample consisted of 20 pupils who were selected purposively. They were divided into two equal groups; an experimental group (n = 10) who received the emotional rational counseling program; and a controlling group (n = 10), where Cooper Smith's self-esteem Scale and the researchers' counseling program were used. The findings showed statistically significant differences at the level of self - esteem in post-measurement between experimental group and controlling group in the favor of experimental group; and statistically significant differences in the level of self-esteem in the experimental group between the pretest and the posttest measurements in the favor of the posttest measurement; and no statistically significant differences in the level of esteem among pretest and posttest measurements in the controlling group. In addition, there are no statistically significant differences in the level of self-esteem in the posttest measurement in the experimental group according to gender.
