AB - This study aimed to develop and test the effectiveness of a unit in Islamic education in helping first graders in intellectual education institutes to acquire religious concepts. To achieve the former goal, identifying the criteria of developing the proposed unit and developing the suggested unit based on the specified criteria. And exploring the effectiveness of the suggested unit by selecting 15 first graders from an intellectual education institute in Riyadh. After that, teaching the suggested unit and scoring the test and treating data statistically. The research found the following results: there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the religious concepts pre- and posttest in favor of the posttest. That is, the suggested unit enhanced the religious concepts of students' with intellectual disabilities. The rate of the adjusted gain in religious concepts did not reach the acceptable level (i.e., 1.2) even though the unit proved effective.
