It also aimed to investigate the level of metacognition and the locus of control type and their differences according to specialization (major) and academic level. Three hundred and eighty five female students are participated in this study. It is stratified random sample. Two measures were used to achieve the study goals: metacognitive skills scale designed by Schraw and Dennison (1994) and rotter’s I-E locus of control scale (1966). Prior to the study, the psychometric characteristics of these tools were examined on the study sample. The results indicated the influence of metacognition on the total degree was medium and the dimension of cognition regulation was high, whereas the dimensions of cognition process and knowledge were medium. It also showed that 74.9% of students have external locus of control. It suggested that there is a statistical significance difference among students relating to specialization. The scientific field students have internal locus of control. However, the educational field female students have external locus of control. There are also no statistical significant differences in metacognition on the total degree.
