AU - Ahmed, Meshkat Al Tayeb AU - Ibrahim, Nagla Bab-Elkeir AU - Farag, Alawia Ibrahim AU - Eldin, Dya AB - This research aims to study teachers’ strategies for teaching pupils in grade 3 and grade 4 in basic school with reading difficulties and how it helps pupils to overcome their difficulties with reading through highlighting strategies that are employed by teachers in teaching, highlighting the challenges may face pupils in grade 3 and 4 to overcome their reading difficulties and recommend strategies from teachers perspective in teaching pupils to overcome their reading difficulties. Sampling in this study is convenience conducted in basic panda international school in Omdurman locality while the participants; teachers and students are selected inclusively based on classes they attend. This research was conducted qualitatively through qualitative tools including in-depth interviews with teachers and observations to pupils. The main findings of this study teachers are using old school strategies to help pupils with reading difficulties, curriculum being taught in panda international school is conducted for pupils who use English as first language which challenge pupils to read fluently, and lack of training for teachers hinder them from being updated with latest and approved strategies to help pupils overcome their reading difficulties.
