AB - The study aimed to determine the skills of reading linguistic texts of the teachers of Arabic language in the elementary level in Riyadh, and to measure these teachers’ mastery level in these skills. It also aimed to identify the effectiveness of a training program based on the skills of reading linguistic texts from the book ‘My Beautiful Language’ on developing the reading performance of Arabic teachers. These skills have been specified in three areas: before, during, and after reading the text. To achieve the aforementioned aims, a questionnaire, an observation card, and a training program were designed. The study’s experimental group consisted of 12 teachers; distributed to two subgroups: the first group (n = 6) came from a private school, and the second (n = 6) from a public school. Result revealed a low mastery level of the skills of reading language texts. While there were no statistically significant differences in these skills attributed to the type of school (private vs. public), there were statistically significant differences between the pretest and posttest in the observation card in favor of the posttest in the general experimental group and the two experimental groups who were trained to achieve the skills of reading language texts.
