AU - علوي، وهيبة السيد سعيد. AB - The current study aims at exploring the emotional intelligence (EI) of male and female and its relationship to some variables. To achieve the study objectives, a cluster sample of (878) individuals (436 males and 442 females) was randomly selected. This sample consisted of thirty two class sections from eighteen schools covered all five Bahrain educational districts. The required quantitative study data was collected as a result of applying Bar-On Emotional Intelligence scale (youth version: EQ-i: YV) on all study sample individuals. The results revealed that a significant effect of age on total EI and its components except adaptability. The study also found a total EI score and “intrapersonal” component significantly differed by gender. In addition, It was found that the intrapersonal scale significantly differs due to the interaction between “grade level” and “gender”. Based on these findings, a group of recommendations were reported accordingly. Particularly, the study suggested: (1) Incorporate emotional intelligence skills in the school curriculum (2) train teachers and students to implement these skills in their daily life, (3) qualify teachers to teach emotional intelligence skills by conducting specialized programs, courses and workshops, and (4) conduct more research on emotional intelligence for school students and study its implications that add value to the existing research knowledge.
