This study aims at knowing the actual ways of financing Saudi universities and to lay the foundations of an initial view of a proposal for finding ways to finance Saudi universities in light of the Saudi national vision 2030. Believing it to be the approach that best suits such a study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach. The result of this study shows that Saudi universities depend completely on governmental support. It also shows that the rules and regulations permit these universities to diversify their financial resources in various ways such as investing their properties, their research projects, and their endowments. The study therefore recommends that it is necessary for Saudi universities to diversify their financial resources, and that the private sector should be encouraged and stimulated to participate in financing these universities, too. Moreover, this study recommends that research centers should be developed and enhanced, and that they should focus on applied research which would boost their financial resources in light of Saudi national vision 2030.
