The study examined the motivation for achievement among Kuwaiti youth at the university level, and the comparison between the sexes (males and females) within the framework of the expectations of these young people, taking into account the variables with potential effect on motivation and expectations. The Study sample was 407 Kuwaiti university students. The used a questionnaire consisting of two scales, first scale measures expectations and second measures motivation with four dimensions: perseverance, purposive ness, ambition, self-perceived efficiency. The overall result of the study is that the average score on expectations scale is 39.5, which is 79% of the total score of the expectations scale. There are significant differences between the sample groups according to variables: sex, college, GPA level (P < 0.05), where the expectations are higher among females, those in practical colleges, and those with high GPA, as well as respondents from the capital governorate and Jahra governorate, while there are no significant differences between the sample groups in terms of expectations according to the variables of: age, social status , the study class and Economic level (P > 0.05) In terms of motivation for achievement, it was found that the respondents score is (152.1) equivalent to (76%) of the total score of the motivation scale. There are significant differences between the sample groups in terms of total motivation for achievement according to variables of gender, college, GPA and residence governorate (P < 0.05), where motivation for achievement is higher among females, respondents from practical colleges, high achievers, and respondents from the governorates of the capital, Ahmadi Governorates and Jahra Governorate. There are no significant differences between the sample groups in terms of total motivation for achievement according to the variables of age, Social status, study class and, economic level and social studies (P > 0.05) Finally, the study revealed a positive correlation between expectations and motivation, The higher the expectations, the higher the motivation (P < 0.05).
