هدف الكتاب إلى عرض لتطور تربية طفل ما قبل المدرسة (أو طفل الروضة)، ونشأتها وتطورها على المستوى العالمي، أو المحلى، وعرض وتحليل الجهود العالمية فى تطويرها وتحديثها بما يمكن أن يفيد فى تكوين رؤية شبه متكاملة حول مرحلة رياض الأطفال والسياق التاريخى و الثقافى والاجتماعى لنشأتها وتطورها. وتكون الكتاب الحالى من أربعة فصول حيث تضمن الفصل الأول نشأة وتطور رياض الأطفال وتطورها عالمياً بداية من العصور البشرية الأولى حتى وقتنا الراهن، وانتقل الفصل الثاني لدراسة وتحليل آراء وجهود المربين والفلاسفة فى تربية طفل ما قبل المدرسة، أما الفصل الثالث فتناول نشأة رياض الأطفال فى مصر بداية من عام 1913م حتى الآن، وتناول الفصل الرابع جهود دول العالم فى مجال تربية طفل ما قبل المدرسة فى كل من المملكة العربية السعودية، ودولة الكويت، وقطر، وانجلترا، والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والدول الاسكندنافية، مبيناً أهم الاتجاهات العالمية فى تربية طفل ما قبل المدرسة.(ملخص المؤلف)

This book aimed to show the development of pre-school education and its origin and development worldwide and to analyze the global efforts in advancing and modernizing it. This book may provide an integrative vision about the kindergarten stage and its historical, cultural, social contexts. This book consisted of four chapters. The first chapter included the origin and development of kindergarten beginning with old centuries ending with the present time. The second chapter included the analysis of the efforts and opinions of philosophers and educators in pre-school education. The third chapter included the kindergarten stage development in Egypt beginning with 1913 to the present time. The fourth chapter included the efforts of countries in pre-school child education and the global trend in this field. (Author's abstract)
