تتناول الدراسة نشأة المكتبة المركزية وتطورها بجامعة دمشق وأقسامها، وتسلط الضوء على قسم الدوريات ومدى تلبيته لحاجات طلبة قسم الإعلام بجامعة دمشق ودوره في تعزيز البحث العلمي ودعمه، كما تعرض الدراسة نتائج استبانة أعدها الباحث لمعرفة مدى تلبية قسم الدوريات لحاجات طلبة قسم الإعلام بالجامعة. وخلصت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج والتوصيات والمقترحات. The study deals with the beginning and development of the central library in Damascus University and its departments. And it illuminates the periodicals part, and its ability to fulfill the needs of Information students in Damascus University, and its role in supporting the scientific research. It also reviews results of questionnaire performed by a researcher to know the ability of periodicals in fulfilling the demands of the information students in the university. It comes up to a set of results, recommendations and suggestions. (Published abstract)
