The study aimed to determine the relationship between administrative empowerment and decision-making effectiveness among heads of academic departments in Palestinian universities. In addition, to identifying the differences in them according to department type, experience, and type of university variables. To achieve that, the study was conducted on a sample of (60) heads of departments, and two instruments were applied, first one to measure administrative empowerment and the other to measure the effectiveness of decision-making. The results of the study revealed that the degree of both administrative empowerment and decision-making effectiveness among heads of academic departments in Palestinian universities was moderate, and that there was a positive relationship between administrative empowerment and decision-making effectiveness, where the value of the Pearson correlation coefficient between them reached (0.74). Also, the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in both administrative empowerment and decision-making effectiveness of heads of academic departments in Palestinian universities due to department type, experience, and type of university variables. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended several recommendations, the most important one was: The accreditation of Palestinian universities for each of: administrative empowerment and decision-making effectiveness as criteria for selecting heads academic departments and following up their professional evaluation.
